Studies have shown most people fail to realize how much time they spend on their smart phones each day.

Frank and Amelia’s family were put to a test, using a free app (应用软件) called “Moment --- Screen Time Tracker.” The Vascellaros --- Frank, Amelia, 14-year-old twins Frankie and Joe, and 17-year-old Sam --- all said they did not really know they were spending so much time on their phones each day.

“Honestly, I don’t feel like I’m on my phone a lot,” Amelia Vascellaro said. Amelia was on her phone fat less than Frank, according to the app. While Amelia spent about an hour per day on the phone, Frank spent closer to four hours on his phone --- which came as a shock to him. The children’s times varied but they often spent more than a couple of hours on the phone as well.

Minneapolis-based Dr. Kirsten Lind Seal sees phone usage come up a lot among families. Lind Seal said many family members’ phone use has become problematic.

“lf we hear more than once, ‘Do you have to be on your phone right now? Can you please put your phone down? Did you hear what I said?’ it may be a sign (征兆)it is negatively (消极地) influencing our family relationships and our dally lives,” she said.

Lind Seal said actually paying attention to how much time one spends on the phone is a good first step in deciding when to put it down.

and young adults as they continue developing their social and emotional(情感的) skills. “What we find is that we are really losing out on empathy --- the ability to understand other people’s feelings and problems --- when we spend a lot of time on our smart phones to communicate with other people,” she said.

Has your mom or dad ever posted a photo of you on social media (社交媒体)that you didn’t want anyone outside your family to see? In an age when people often share personal information on sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, many parents usually post photos of their children. According

D. Problems among family

B. The influence of apps

to a recent study, a parent will post almost 1,000 photos of a child on line before the child turns 5.

Parents often post photos on social media because they want to share their child’s special moments with friends and family. Some moms and dads do it as a way to connect with other parents. They may have discussions with experienced parents about topics such as how to get kids to sleep, or how to deal with kids’ behavioral problems.

Most parents don’t ask their children for permission before posting photos of them. They feel it is not necessary to consult(与……商量) with their children first because the benefits outweigh any possible risks. Many of them do not fear their kids' pictures will spread further than intended(打算). Some may even expect unknown people to view and comment(评论) on the pictures, and thus meet more new people on the Internet. “The images I post of my children allow me to know a lot of people I wouldn’t necessarily include on my list,” said Lauren Apfel, writer and mother of four. “They have helped me create a group on social media.”

Other parents and child experts believe that kids should be consulted. They say that photos can stay online for many years and that kids should have some control over their online photos. Devorah Heitner, an author who runs workshops about kids, is of the same opinion. “Allow your children to decide whether you can share their pictures on social media,” she said. 32. What do we know about today’s parents from Paragraph 1?

A. They spend too much time online. their kids’ photos.

C. They often post photos of family members. D. They try to protect kids’ personal information.

33. What is a reason why parents share their children’s photos online?
