How to be a good teacher

How can be a good teacher? I think the question exists in the mind of every person who wants to be a teacher or has been a teacher. In Mrs. Luo’s class, we had seen two videos about teaching a lesson.

First VCR is a class in primary school. I remember that the teacher played a PPT about time. She showed a clock that the minute hand and hour hands were going fast. This part is a lead-in activity, which is a better way to draw students’ attention. Then the pretty teacher show some new words and phrases cards one by one. First, she read it for two or three times, and then she let students read it. I think the way to ask students to read the phrases is original. A group together, girls together, boys together, the whole class together. This form can make students concentrate on the teacher and increase the atmosphere in class. At last, they come back to the PPT and fill in the blank of 60 minutes is a hour; 24 hours is a day; 30 or 31days is a month; 12 months is a year. This class helps students learn about time. They learn some new knowledge and the teacher helps students remember these figures.

Next video is about a class in high school. The beginning of the class is a little interesting. When the teacher came in, students laughed at him. Then the teacher asked one boy for the reason. The students describe that the teacher was hot and very handsome that day. Maybe the wear of that teacher is different. From the answer of the teacher, we can see that the teacher is humorous. The small dialogue between the boy and the teacher makes the whole class relaxed. Then they go into the exercises in English Newspapers. The teacher showed the exercises on the PPT, and helped them analysis the key point and difficult point then let students fill in the blanks. With the help of the teacher, students finished the exercises together.

These two teachers showed a colorful class to their students. According to the two videos, the teachers took different methods to take a lesson. For primary school students, the teacher took interaction with students. By reading the new words for many times, students will get good memory. In the second video, the humorous teacher analysis the key point and difficult point Then students should finish the question independently.

The similarity between the two classes is the class atmosphere, which is dependent on the teacher. The class atmosphere is important. A good atmosphere can draw students’ attention. It can also make students keep a relaxing mood and increase students’ positivity to finish the class.

My dream is to be an English teacher, which becomes my dream when I was a child. So, how to be a teacher?

It is difficult for as to be a good teacher. Well, I divided the factors into two aspects. They are internal factors and external factors. Internal factors include ethic, devotion and responsibility. A good English teacher should like his or her job. They should have a kind-heart. They should be responsible for the students and love their students. To be a teacher, we are supposed to be full of patience and imagination. External factors include strong knowledge foundation, professional qualities, strategies and person styles. With the help of these qualities, an English teacher can do better in the teaching.

For a teacher, we should not only teach students to learn English, but also teaches students how to carry out behavior of the human and educate them value society. People often say that teachers are the second parents of students. So, our task is to make friends with students and try our best to become a qualified and satisfying teacher.
